This page presents the main points of Suomimuutto Oy's moving terms and conditions, which apply to home moves, corporate moves and transport services in Finland and abroad. Please read the terms carefully before your move.
1. Scope of service
- The scope of the moving service is always agreed separately (full-service, partial move or vehicle and driver only).
- The service includes only the work and transport specified in the quote or agreement.
- Any additional work, such as extra handling of goods, waiting time or use of special routes, will be charged separately.
2. Customer responsibilities
- The customer is responsible for the appropriate packing of goods, unless packing has been separately agreed to be carried out by Suomimuutto Oy.
- Access routes for carrying must be kept clear (e.g. lift reserved, doors open).
- The customer is responsible for goods that are not properly packed or protected.
- If only a vehicle and driver have been ordered, carrying and moving items inside premises is the customer's responsibility.
3. Suomimuutto Oy's responsibilities
- We are only responsible for goods that we have packed or handled as agreed.
- Our responsibility covers damage occurring during transport, provided it is caused by our negligence.
- We are not responsible for damage resulting from normal wear and tear, insufficient packing or pre-existing damage.
4. Other points to note
- The customer must notify us in advance of exceptionally large, heavy or special items, such as a piano, safe, stone surfaces or furniture with special mechanisms.
- Electrical appliances (e.g. computers, refrigerators, freezers) should only be connected to power once they have adjusted to the new temperature.
- Original packaging boxes should be used where available.
- Washing machines must have the transport bolts in place; dishwashers and washing machines must be emptied of water and connections disconnected before the move.
- Flat-pack furniture must be disassembled and packed ready for transport where necessary.
- Suomimuutto Oy does not transport weapons, hazardous materials, gas cylinders or fuel canisters — the customer is responsible for transporting these themselves.
5. Breakages and damages
- Damage must be reported in writing within 7 days.Without this, Suomimuutto Oy bears no responsibility for the damage.
- Damage is not covered if goods were inadequately packed or packed contrary to instructions.
- Protecting floors and other surfaces during the move is the customer's responsibility, unless otherwise agreed.
- Damage can only be compensated if it can be identified by both the customer and the employees.
- Liability insurance covers damage caused to property up to €500,000.
- Damage to personal property is compensated at current market value.Items with a unit value exceeding €2,000 must be separately insured.
- Suomimuutto Oy's liability for personal property is based on statutory road transport insurance (€20/kg).
6. Schedules and changes
- The moving schedule is agreed in advance and every effort is made to adhere to it strictly.
- The customer must notify us of any changes (address, schedule, scope of service) at least 3 working days before the move.
- Late changes may incur additional costs.
- The start time for an afternoon move is an estimate only. Suomimuutto Oy is not obliged to provide compensation if an afternoon move starts late.
7. Cancellation
- Cancellation of a move 7 days or more before the agreed date is free of charge.
- Cancellations made later will incur a cancellation fee of €150..
- Rescheduling the move to another date is free of charge, and the new date will be agreed subject to availability.
8. Payment terms
- Moving services are invoiced in accordance with the quote or price list.
- Invoicing is available to business customers only.
- Payment terms are net 7 days, unless otherwise agreed.
- Late payments will accrue interest in accordance with applicable law.
